Echo is a 2015 horror visual novel developed by Echo Project.[1][2]
The game was funded via Patreon, where new builds were released consistently until the final release on April 1, 2021.[3]
Plot
The narrative follows Chase, a river otter and journalism student, during the spring break of 2015, when he returns to his hometown, Echo, a decaying southwestern desert town (based on the real-life town of Echo, Utah), to document its tumultuous history for his college project. He uses the trip as a reason to reunite with his five childhood friends whom he grew up with in Echo. Initially, Chase eagerly embraces the opportunity to reconnect with his old friends; however, escalating tensions ensue when a past incident resurfaces, posing a significant threat to the group's bond. Additionally, Chase gradually uncovers unsettling phenomena that unveil a darker, more ominous aspect of the town he used to call home.
