Eddie Newquist is an inventor, creative executive and designer based in the United States. Newquist is principally known as an events, exhibitions, attractions, and tours designer.[1][2][3][4][5][6]

Early life and career[edit]

Born in New York, Newquist spent his childhood in Boston and Phoenix before moving to Los Angeles. He graduated from Loyola Marymount University where he received a film scholarship and was awarded “best student director” his junior year.[7] Newquist went on to organize cinema-themed touring exhibitions, and was named director of attraction development at MCA Recreation Services Group in 1995.[8][9]

Career[edit]

Over his career, Newquist has held senior creative executive positions at GES (Global Experience Specialist), Universal Studios, Iwerks Entertainment, and Clear Channel Entertainment.[10][11][12]

For the opening of Universal Studios Florida he worked with special make-up effects artist Rick Baker to create the “Phantom of the Opera Make-up Show”.[13]

Newquist’s exhibition work and films have been hosted by the Museum of Science and Industry in Chicago, Discovery Times Square in New York, the Kennedy Space Center in Florida, the Smithsonian Institution in Washington, D.C., the Powerhouse Museum in Sydney, and the California Science Center in Los Angeles.[13]

Newquist was the president of branded entertainment for the production company for Harry Potter: The Exhibition.[14][15]

Personal life[edit]

Newquist resides in La Canada, California with his wife Kirsten Newquist and four children. He himself is one of eight children. Newquist’s father, Harvey Newquist II was a pioneer in the computer industry and one of the five founders of Data General.[23] His younger brother Jimmy Newquist is the lead singer of alternative rock band Caroline's Spine,[24] and his older brother Harvey “HP” Newquist.

Eddie has contributed dozens of articles to industry related magazines and websites and he regularly teaches and mentors at special events, corporations and universities.  He served for three years on the Board of Directors of Ryman Arts.[25][26]
