Eileen Carragher
Eileen Carragher (1930-2021) was a teacher and social activist in Belfast.
Carragher was born in Belfast where she attended St Dominic's Grammar School for Girls and then Queen's University Belfast from which she obtained a degree in mathematics.[1]
She taught at St Louise's Comprehensive College before returning to St. Dominic's as a teacher of mathematics and then as Vice-Principal.[2]
She was also involved in local politics and was a founding member of the Social Democratic and Labour Party in 1970. Later, she was active in PACE - Protestant and Catholic Encounter - an organisation devoted to promoting greater connections between the Protestant and Catholic communities in Northern Ireland.[citation needed]
