Ekran System is an enterprise security software solution intended for insider threat protection and user activity monitoring tasks. The product is created by Ekran System Inc, originally a Hungarian security vendor now headquartered in the USA.
The solution is used for management of insider IT threats mainly in financial[1] and manufacturing market segments. Besides traditional solutions for large enterprises, Ekran System has editions targeted at small and medium businesses.
Development history
Right from its inception in 2013, Ekran System has been delivering user session video recording functionality, initially supporting Windows terminal servers and workstations.
With the version 3.0 released in November 2014, Ekran System started the transition to pure Web-based solution management having introduced Web-based Management Console.[2]
In June 2014, the full support of Citrix XenDesktop and XenApp session monitoring was added.
Ekran System 4.0 presented completely Web-based result analysis and solution management and maintenance as well as Linux (Telnet SSH) support[3].
Being initially focused on the SMB segment, Ekran System 5.0 introduced a new Enterprise version of the product with extended functionality, including database archiving, advanced SIEM integration, one-time password functionality, and high availability.[4]
With the Ekran System 5.1 release, the company entered the access management market sub-segment having introduced two-factor authentication and one-time passwords functionality.[5][6]
Ekran System 5.4 added support for macOS client.[7] With this version, Ekran System Inc. started to promote privileged and generic user monitoring delivered as a cloud service via its partner network.
Participation in MACH37
Ekran System was chosen for the final stage of the MACH37 cybersecurity accelerator as a part of Spring 2017 cohort companies[8][9][10]. The solution has been awarded the first round of funding from the Virginia state government for further business development.
