Daniel Morejon Gamonal (born September 8, 1993), popularly known as El Dany MG, is an up-and-coming musician from Cuba, currently based in the United States. El Dany MG has been a strong proponent of the urban genre that merges Cuban popular music with current sounds and a very peculiar voice - timbre.[1]
El Dany MG achieved commercial success with his debut song La Que Me Parte, released in 2020, making him the fastest rising Cuban artist in America. His music primarily draws from Cuban culture and his personal life experiences. Some of his notable songs are Tiene Veneno, La Que Me Parte en LasPu.
Early life[edit]
El Dany MG was born on September 8, 1993, to Miriam Gamonal and Eugenio Morejon. His interests inclined toward music from a very young age, and El Dany MG was often seen participating in the local music scene.
Career[edit]
El Dany MG decided to pursue a full-time career as a musician when he was 24 years old in 2017. He began performing covers at multiple local cafes and clubs, but it was not until 2020 that he recorded his originals.[2]
In 2020, El Dany MG released his debut song La Que Me Parte, which was soon followed by the release of Se Revelo, Esta Enamorada, and Te Va Arder. The outbreak of these songs garnered mainstream El Dany MG popularity, especially in Miami, Lima, Tampa, Houston, and Madrid. In 2021, he released two other singles Tiene Veneno and Laspa.[3]
El Dany MG’s music style is heavily influenced by Cuban culture with remnants of the American community which fall under the urban genre. He is presently working on his next songs and is set to release them in early 2022. El Dany MG's has been extremely popular in the country, spawning various dancing videos on social media platforms like Facebook, Instagram, Tiktok, and YouTube. His songs can be found on his website as well as on Spotify, Apple Music, Discogs, and YouTube, among other music streaming platforms.
