Artistry
Musical Style
Eli cited that his main musical genres and influences are Hip Hop, R&B, Reggae and Soca, stating: "Being from Trinidad and Tobago and not hearing, living and loving soca is impossible. That's what breaks the racial barriers of the ethnically diverse Trinidadian people. Also when I was younger I grew up listening to people like Michael Jackson, Whitney Houston, Celine Dion, Beyonce, Zayn Malik, Haddaway and all those greats that also influences my love for R&B. And well the greatest rapper in the history of Trinidad and Tobago and the world, Nicki Minaj inspired me for as long as I can remember. I remember listening to her music only for weeks straight."
His musical work composes mainly of Hip Hop and R&B, while sometimes incorporating Reggae and Soca into some of his songs and features. He also incorporates Bollywood, Middle Eastern and Chutney styles into his music stating: "I always try to keep close and pay tribute to my ancestral roots that hail from India and the Indian subcontinent by using some of their techniques and styles. It also helps me to know that I not only reach a Trinidadian, American or European audience but also an Asian and Middle Eastern audience."
Voice
Eli possesses an extended tenor vocal range and is widely known for belting out high notes for long periods. He is also known for using falsetto and warble techniques while singing and delivering notes.
Personal life
Beliefs and Relationships
Eli is a non-practicing Muslim, but prays to Allah and keeps traditions coming from Islamic family on his father's side. He has stated that growing up in his late teenage years he has received numerous anti-Muslim slurs. He speaks Arabic, Hindi, Urdu and French Kryol and his native mother tongue, Trinidadian English.[1]
He commented on sexual orientation saying: "I think to each man his own, no one should be shunned or looked at differently because of his sexual orientation and preferences, we are all humans and have different likings which should be respected." He later stated: "I respect the LGBT community, however I'm straight, There's nothing more beautiful than a lady, For me that is."
