Chopped Junior[edit]

In 2017, Hoffenberg appeared on the fourth season of the Food Network's Chopped Junior, a spin-off of the popular cooking competition show Chopped that features young chefs between the ages of 9 and 15. Hoffenberg competed in the episode "Lemon Meringue Why", which aired on January 7, 2017, and was season 4 episode 11.

On Chopped Junior, each episode features four young chefs who compete in three rounds – appetizer, entree, and dessert. In each round, the chefs are given a basket of mystery ingredients that they must use to create a dish within a certain time limit. After each round, one chef is eliminated, and the remaining chefs move on to the next round. The winner of the final round receives a cash prize and the title of "Chopped Junior Champion".

In the appetizer round, Hoffenberg impressed the judges, which included celebrity chef Geoffrey Zakarian, radio host Angie Martinez, and comedian Chelsea Peretti, with his ceviche dish. For the entree, he prepared a Thai red curry chicken that received high praise from the judges. In the dessert round, he made a vanilla ice cream and shortbread cookie, which judge Zakarian said he would serve in his restaurant.

Emergency Medical Technician[edit]

In addition to his entrepreneurial and cooking endeavors, Hoffenberg is also an Emergency Medical Technician who volunteers with the Montgomery County Fire Rescue Services. As an EMT, he has been trained in basic life support, CPR, and other emergency medical procedures. Recently, he completed all three movements of Beethoven's "Moonlight Sonata", and has notably learned "Liebestraum", "Claire de Lune", and more. Additionally, Eli loves playing with his two dogs, Cindy, a brown rescue, and Snoopy, a standard Sheepadoodle puppy.
