Elias Al-Diri

Elias Al-Diri, a Lebanese writer, journalist and politician, was born in the village of Dede - Koura district in northern Lebanon in 1937. His novel "The Dead Knight Rides" was ranked 101, in the list of the 100 best Arab novels by the Arab Writers Union in 2001.[1][2]

Biography[edit]

Elias Al-Diri is a Lebanese writer. From his childhood, he accompanied his father, who worked in the coal and lime industry. In his old age, he worked in the construction department in Lebanon. He studied in several Tripoli schools, including: Deddah, Battermin, Al-Qalamoun, and Al-Zahria. He became involved in the political corps, specifically in the Syrian Social Nationalist Party. From 1950 to 1965, he withdrew from it, devoting himself to literary and political writing, and was seduced by journalistic work, so he wrote political articles in the newspaper “Al-Nahar Al-Arabi and Al-Dawli” in Paris, and the magazine “Al-Saffar.”[3]
