Email2phone.net is service that converts ordinary text email into speech and delivers them as interactive phone calls to allow users listen and respond to those emails by voice[1].

    History[edit]

The services was created in 2002 as a subsidiary of Across Communications Inc[2], when company saw a need to provide essential email service to users with limited access to desktops and Internet[3]. Services rapidly expended into multiple vertical industries. As of today, service is used by members of blind communities to facilitate email access purely by voice[4]. IT community relies on the service to deliver important alerts of the phone, as it proven to be more reliable and timely compare to Email or text alerts. Elderly people found the service to be easier to adopt to than traditional email. For the last 16 years' service continues to add new features and operate under the umbrella of Across Communications Inc.

    Some main features include:[edit]

    1. Scheduled email delivery, where users can specify hours and days to have service call them and have hours of "do not disturb".
    2. Calling multiple people in sequence or concurrent, allowing large group of people be notified about certain alerts instantaneously.[5]
    3. Extensive filtering system to allow emails forwarded to phones only from certain senders or with certain content.
    4. Ability to dial-in into the service and retrieve messages from email2phone system or any other POP3 or IMAP4 compliant mailbox.
