Emiola Olapade-Olaola was born on October 24, 1963, in Ibadan, Oyo, Nigeria. He is a professor of Medicine and Surgery[1][2] and the former provost of the College of Medicine, University of Ibadan.[1]
Early Life and Education[edit]
Emiola Olapade-Olaopa is the son of Mogbekel'oluwa Oluremi (Fasakin) Olapade-Olaopa and Emmanuel Olapade. He graduated from the University of Ibadan in 1986 with Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery. In 1994, he got a certification in urology, University of London.[citation needed] His career spans across surgery, medical education, molecular biology, urology, and health systems research and development[3].
Academic Career[edit]
He started his career in the University of Ibadan's Department of Surgery in 2001 as a senior lecturer and was promoted to full professor in 2007. He has served in different capacities in academic and administrative governance at all levels, which include departmental, faculty, college of medicine, and university committees. Among the most notable are the following: Congregational Member of the Senate of the Academic Board of the College of Medicine and the Senate at various times; Sub-Dean (Post-graduate) of the Faculty of Clinical Sciences 2004–2006; and Member of the University of Ibadan Strategic Planning Committee (2006–2010).

- He impacted and contributed to the growth and development of the medical school while serving as the College of Medicine's provost. Bringing the institution from 10th in sub-Saharan Africa and 15th in Africa to 1st in Sub-Saharan Africa and 4th in Africa, respectively.[1]
