Energy Elephant (EnergyElephant[1]) is a cloud based technology company headquartered in Dublin, Ireland and operating worldwide. Its software platform is designed to help organisations analyse energy and sustainability data. It was a finalist at TechCrunch Disrupt Battlefield in London 2015, and also won Irish Digital Startup 2017.

EnergyElephant's stated mission is to help users "make better energy decisions by organising and analysing their energy data".

History and growth[edit]

EnergyElephant was founded in late 2014 by two engineering graduates from Trinity College, Dublin, who were dissatisfied with how difficult it was to understand the data contained in their energy bills and how much they were spending.[citation needed]

In June, 2015, the European Young Innovator Awards announced the company as the public prize winner at the Unconvention awards held in Brussels.[2]

In December, 2015, TechCrunch announced the company as one of 15 finalists for the Techcrunch Disrupt Battlefield award held in London.[3] The company pitched to a range of investors, journalists and the general public.

In December 2016, the company was a finalist for the '4 years from now' (4YFN) award held in the Fira de Barcelona as part of the Smart City Expo World Congress.[4]

Science and technology[edit]

EnergyElephant's software uses statistical algorithms to run analysis over users' energy data to discover insights and savings.[citation needed] It is designed to collect data on electricity, thermal fuels and motor fuel.[citation needed]
