Enrique Gómez Hurtado (April 10, 1927 - July 13, 2019) was a Colombian lawyer and economist. He was the President of the Colombian Olympic Committee from 1952 to 1953.
Personal life[edit]
Enrique Gómez was born on April 10, 1927 as the last child to future President of Colombia Laureano Gomez (1889-1965) and his wife, future First Lady of Colombia, Maria Hurtado de Gomez (1886-1971). His elder brother Álvaro Gómez Hurtado also became Ambassador of Colombia to France.
Education[edit]
He graduated from Javeriana University in the 1940's. He also had postgraduate degrees in economics from the London School of Economics. He also had graduate degrees in Philosophy from the University of Barcelona.
Political career[edit]
At just age 25, he was named president of the Colombian Olympic Committee in 1952, he had to go into exile when General Gustavo Rojas Pinilla removed his father from government in a coup in 1953. He also served as Councilor of Bogotá, director of the newspaper El Nuevo Siglo, Senator of the Republic, as well as professor at different universities in the country.
Family[edit]
While living in Spain, Gómez met María Ángela Martínez, his wife, with whom he had four children, who still figure in some scenarios of the national reality.

Death[edit]
Enrique Gómez died on July 13th, 2019 in Cartagena de Indias, Bolívar, Colombia.
