Erika Tarantal (born September 8, 1979) is a principal anchor/reporter for WCVB in Boston. She can be seen weekdays anchoring the midday news at noon. Tarantal also reports for NewsCenter 5 Eyeopener. She also contributes to the station's newsmagazine program Chronicle.
Personal[edit]
Tarantal was raised in Elkins Park, Pennsylvania.
As mentioned on Sunday Today in New York on April 3, 2011, she is a vegetarian. Married to Lucas Nathan,[1] Tarantal gave birth to her first child in the Spring of 2012.
Education[edit]
She obtained her bachelor's degree in government from Connecticut College.[2]
Career[edit]
Prior to joining WCVB in February 2014; Tarantal served as co-anchor for WNBC's News 4 New York at 6pm and 11pm on weekends and as a General Assignment Reporter filing stories for various News 4 New York newscasts during the week. Tarantal left WNBC in January, 2014. In January 2017 She joined WCVB's News magazine Chronicle as a reporter.
Tarantal joined WNBC as a general assignment reporter in December 2007.
In October 2005, she was employed at WVIT in Hartford, Connecticut, where she served as a weekend evening anchor and weekday General Assignment Reporter. Before her career in broadcast journalism, she worked as a paralegal for the Office of the Attorney General in Boston.[2]
Family[edit]
Tarantal is the daughter of Stephen M. Tarantal, a painter and dean of the College of Art and Design at the University of the Arts in Philadelphia. Her mother, Elsa Johnson, is a sculptor and a professor at the same university.[1]
