ESCUnited is a website that covers the Eurovision Song Contest.[1]
History[edit]
ESCUnited was founded in 2013 by Matt Friedrichs.[2] The site began as an online forum for discussing Eurovision, and quickly expanded to provide coverage, commentary, and discussion around the contest through online articles, podcasts, interviews, YouTube videos, and more. Matt has continued to serve as the primary face of ESCUnited alongside editor-in-chief Sean Tarbuck.[3]
Following the 2013 Eurovision Song Contest in Malmö, Sweden, the site began covering the Junior Eurovision Song Contest, the American Song Contest, and press releases from the European Broadcasting Union. The site's forum section is used by over 11,000 users, who have posted nearly 2 million total comments.[4]
Matt appeared during Swedish broadcaster Sveriges Television's (SVT) pre-Eurovision 2022 segment "Uppsnack Eurovision" representing the website.[5] Additionally, their live reaction to the Eurovision Song Contest 2021 Semi-Final One jury final was featured on The Observator. [6]
Today the website has grown to feature over 27 staff members from 14 countries around the world.[3]
