Europa ÉÉN! (in English, Europe Unite!; in French, L'Europe Unie!; in Italian, Europa Unita!) is a choral composition by the Dutch musician Louis Noiret, with lyrics by the poet Henrik Joosten.[1]
History[edit]
The composition was conceived for the Congress of Europe, held in The Hague in May 1948. The work was commissioned by The Joint International Committee for European Unity to symbolically seal the commitment of the participants to promoting peace and solidarity among European peoples in the post-war period. The score, specifically composed for the event, was published in several languages - Dutch, French, English, and Italian - highlighting the desire to represent the emerging Europe's cultural and political unity.[1][2]
