ETRE (an abbreviation of European Technology Roundtable Exhibition) was a trade show[1] held in various European cities from 1990 to 2011. It was an event aimed at Computer industry CEOs and high-level managers.[2][3] From the beginning on the event was attended by high-profile executives such as Bill Gates[4], Michael Dell, Philippe Kahn and others.[5]

History[edit]

The first edition of ETRE took place in Opio, Alpes-Maritimes in 1990.[6][7] It was founded by Alex Vieux and organized by DASAR, a European incubator and conference company that he co-founded.[8] In 1996 ETRE was supposed to take place in Israel, but this was first postponed to 1997 and ultimately did not happen.[9]

Media coverage[edit]

From 1992 to 2001, Computer Chronicles aired a special edition covering ETRE.
