Evangelos Spanos

Evangelos Spanos (Greek: Ευάγγελος Σπανός; Chroupista, born in the 1790s) was a chieftain of the Greek War of Independence from Chroupista, Kastoria.[1]

Biography[edit]

Evangelos Spanos was born in the late 18th century in Chroupista, Kastoria. He was a tailor there. During the Greek Revolution, the town revolted and he became the leader of the revolutionary forces. He was killed in the clashes with the Ottomans and his younger brother, Stergios, took over the command.[1]
