Evertz Pharma GmbH is a German pharmaceutical company, founded in Frankfurt, Germany.[1][2][3]

History

Evertz Pharma GmbH was founded by twin brothers in Frankfurt am Main in 2017.[4][5] The brothers had academic challenges related to dyslexia during their school years but later earning Master’s degrees in Industrial Engineering from the Technical University of Braunschweig.[6][7][8] Before founding it, the Evertz brothers co-founded Handshakers UG.[9][9][10]

The company initially focused on orthopedic aids, like shoe insoles, but shifted to plant-based products.[11] This transition began with the release of treatments for hair, skincare and dietary market later in 2019.[12][13][14] It also entered the supplement market.[15] Since 2021, Birgit Schrowange became the advertising face for Biovolen product.[16][17]

In 2020, it adopted Bitcoin, becoming the first known German to do so.[18][19][20][21] The company’s headquarters are located in Frankfurt am Main, while production is carried out in North Rhine-Westphalia and Bavaria. Research activities are conducted in Switzerland, with warehousing and logistics managed in Thuringia.[22][23]

Pricing dispute

In 2022, Evertz Pharma became involved in a legal dispute over the prices of its Biovolen cosmetic products. The company listed a recommended retail price of €100 for some products in the Lauer-Taxe pharmacy price database, while selling the same products for €69.90 in its own online shop. The court ruled that this price difference was misleading because the company regularly sold the products for less than the listed price.[24]

In December 2024, the Higher Regional Court of Frankfurt upheld the ruling and rejected the appeal. The decision was reported in January 2025 and confirmed that prices reported in the pharmacy price database must not be set artificially high compared with the prices at which the products are normally sold.[25][26]

Products

Evertz Pharma's main product brand is called Biovolen. Under this brand, the company sells a line of skin care products.

As of 2026, the Biovolen line include:[27][28]

  • Biovolen Aktiv Moossalbe – skincare for mature skin and the appearance of lines and wrinkles. It has moss-derived active ingredient.
  • Biovolen Aktiv Kressesalbe – skincare for pigmentation and age spots. It has cress-derived active ingredient.
  • Biovolen Aktiv Jasminsalbe – skincare for the eye area, dark circles and hooded-looking eyelids. It has jasmine-derived ingredient.
  • Biovolen Aktiv Harzsalbe – skincare for enlarged-looking pores and blemish-prone skin. It has mastic-resin ingredient.
  • Biovolen Aktiv Senfsalbe – body care for the appearance of cellulite and loss of firmness. It has mustard-derived ingredients.
  • Biovolen Aktiv Algensalbe – body care for the cosmetic appearance of spider veins. It has algae-derived ingredients.
  • Biovolen Aktiv Hefesalbe – skincare for keratosis pilaris / "Reibeisenhaut". It has yeast-derived ingredient.
  • Biovolen Aktiv Pfeffersalbe – cosmetic skincare for a naturally tanned appearance.
