Keratoconus Treatment[edit]

In addition to being apart of the optical community in Miami, FL Eyetrust Vision has join partnership to fitting patients with Keratoconus contact lenses as an alternate to surgery. Currently, they are working with CooperVision and SynerEyes contacts.[3]

There is an emerging technology of hybrid contact lenses that has taken a big leap to have a treatment for advanced kerataconus that will not involve surgery. With the combined efforts of certain manufactures, namely CooperVision, SyngerEyes, and Eyetrust vision, this sheds light to on the age treatment of keratoconus [4]

While hybrid designs are still not able to completely reduce the effects of keratoconus the current hybrid design of SyngerEyes and Eyetrust vision will allow patients with mild to moderate kerataconus to may fit into the a lens which has a spherical RGP center, which in turn will allow for maximum wearable.[5]

Difficulties arise when a patient has an irregular cornea will form gaps between the peripheral of the soft lens and the optical center of the lenses hard lenses. These advancements has allow for silicon hydrogel material to add moisture to the cornea. Also, this new technology also allows for the patient to have UV blocker.[6]
