Walter Ezequiel Matthysse Bianchettin, better known as Ezequiel Matthysse, is an Argentine singer, influencer, and professional boxer. He was born on July 8, 1998 in Trelew, Chubut, Argentina. He is Lucas Matthysse's nephew..[1][2][3][4][5][6]
Early Life and Amateur career[edit]
Walter Ezequiel Matthysse Bianchettin was born on July 8, 1998 in Trelew, Chubut, Argentina.[7] He is the son of the proffesional Boxer Walter Matthysse and Gladys Yanina Bianchettin. Ezequiel began boxing at a young age since his entire Matthysse family was a boxing family, including his grandpa, grandmother, uncles, relatives, and parents.[8]
In 2012 he made his debut as a boxer amateur when he was 14 years old winning by knockout in the third round. Before his debut, he held 2 exhibitions, the first at 7 years old and the second at 11 and he was trained by his father at the time. He made a total of 63 amateur fights of which he won 59, 30 of them by knockout, lost 3 and tied 1.[9]
In 2015 at just 16 years old, he was contacted by the team of Marcos “Chino” Maidana and traveled to United States, where he was trained by the former boxer and trainer Robert García and trained with several professional boxers such as Shane Mosley.[10] In that same year he made his first fight international as amateur in United States, beating Alex Moreno by points in decision unanimous who received 2 accounts protection by the referee.[11]
In 2016 Ezequiel returned to Argentina to join the team of his uncle Lucas Matthysse, and in 2017 he helped Lucas prepare for his fight against American Emmanuel Taylor with headquarters in Las Vegas, Ezequiel being the partner of sparring of his uncle.[12]
In 2017 he returned to Argentina and traveled to Buenos Aires to represent the Argentine National Team of Boxing in a cap between Argentina against Brazil and fought with boxer Brazilian Uendel Brito.[13]
In 2018 Ezequiel was part of the preparation for his uncle Lucas Matthysse fight against the Filipino Manny Pacquiao based in Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia.[14] In that preparation which was in United States, Ezequiel participated in the world championship amateur organized by the World Boxing Council in Los Angeles and became world champion amateur of the WBC in the category Middleweight beating the former national monarch of USA Jerry Bradford. In that World Cup consecration, Ezequiel became the first amateur boxer in the history of Argentine boxing to win a title from WBC.[15]
In 2019 Ezequiel participated in a championship organized by the World Boxing Council in Chile and obtained the Gold Medal and became champion winning all his fights by knockout in the first round.[16] Later in that same year, champion of the Association of Argentine Professional and Amateur Manager's and Boxers (AMBAPA), Champion Regional and Champion Provincial amateur.[17][18]
Professional career[edit]
In 2020, at the age of 21, he signed his first contract with the promoter of boxing Sampson Lewkowicz and his company Sampson Boxing and Tello Box to debut as a professional boxer.[19] The announcement was made through a virtual press conference in which Sergio “Maravilla” Martínez and the president of the World Boxing Council Mauricio Sulaiman participated, who said: "I know Walter Jr. (Ezequiel Matthysse) for having won a world WBC challenge in the United States".[20]
On November 21, 2020, he began his career as a professional boxer, beating Dante Roman Cano by knockout in the first round in Córdoba, Argentina.[21]

Edith Soledad Matthysse and Lucas Martin Matthysse, both past world champions, are his cousins. He is married to Florencia Belén Giménez, and has two sisters: Nerina Ayelén Matthysse and Zaira Milena Matthysse..[22]
Ezequiel's video became viral on the internet in 2012, with millions of views. In the video, Ezequiel is sleeping until his father pours water on his head, which enrages him, prompting him to scream, "Dad, can't you see I have new underpants?" (In Spanish, “Papá Tengo Calzoncillos Nuevos”). In multiple interviews, Ezequiel Matthysse admits to being a victim of bullying, but he was able to overcome it as a WBC amateur world champion before going on to become a professional boxer..[23][24][25]
