Born Fumbani Louis Changaya, professionally known as "F Jay, The King of Zambian R&B", is a Zambian singer, songwriter, record producer, and dancer.
Career
His musical career began when he joined a group signed under Taurus Musik called Urban Hype in 2009. In 2010, he released his first solo singles; among them, "Official Love" and "Range Rover" gained him the prominence that led him to become an R&B household name. He has three solo albums to his name: *Nafika*, *Eight*, and *Royal Music-sarafina*, released in those respective years. In 2014, he was awarded "The Best New Artist" at the prestigious Zambian Music Awards (ZMA) and in 2018 he received the "Best Duo/Group" award at the Kwacha Music Awards.
He has subsequently received numerous award nominations throughout the years, which have highlighted his unique artistic singing style, therefore increasing his fanbase.
Early life
Fumbani Louis Chingaya was born on 27 July 1988 in Lusaka, Zambia. His love for music was influenced by watching MTV, watching music videos and listening to audio tapes of Soul Train and various artists that his sister sent him from the UK, which he listened to and sang along with his brother. He started singing while in college in 2007, where he taught himself how to record and make beats. He initially loved rapping and wanted to become a rapper, but whenever he recorded a song and sampled it for his friends, they loved his hook or chorus more and often encouraged him to sing more. This led to the birth of F Jay, the king of R&B.
