The Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University (Thai: คณะทันตแพทยศาสตร์ มหาวิทยาลัยมหิดล) is the university faculty specialising in dentistry of Mahidol University in Thailand. It operates the Dental Hospital, Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University at Phaya Thai and the Maha Chakri Sirindhorn Dental Hospital at Salaya.[1][2]
History[edit]
The Faculty of Dentistry was founded by royal decree on 7 June 1968 as the "Faculty of Dentistry Phaya Thai, University of Medical Sciences", as there was already a dental school at Pathum Wan District. It was aimed to increase the number of dentists in Thailand. On 2 March 1969, the university was renamed Mahidol University and thus the faculty's official name became the "Faculty of Dentistry Phaya Thai, Mahidol University". On 1 May 1972, the dental faculty at Pathum Wan was transferred to Chulalongkorn University and became the Faculty of Dentistry, Chulalongkorn University. On 28 February 1974, the words "Phaya Thai" were removed from the name and the faculty then became known as "Faculty of Dentistry, Mahidol University".[3]
