Fadi Shahin (Arabic: فادي شاهين; born 1976, Damascus, Syria) is a Syrian professor and author, writer.[2]

Early life and education[edit]

He was born in Damascus in Syria in 1976 and went to university in Aleppo, graduating in 2001, he obtained a Master's degree from the University of Damascus in 2004, where he studied the literature in the Faculty of Arts and Humanities.

He has published often in Arabic newspapers and magazines, and he reported on arts and culture for Al Quds al-Arabi from 2007 to 2009.[3] He has also worked with visual media.[4]

In 2006 he specialized in Sociolinguistics, and spent two years at the Institut national des langues et civilisations orientales (INALCO) in Paris and four years in Sorbonne University where he did the fieldwork for his PhD, in 2014, thesis titled :"Diglossia and its influence on Arabic language production : Practical study based on exam papers and a television extract".[5]
