Faozan Rizal (born in Tegal, 1973; age 52 years) is an Indonesian cinematographer and film director.[1] His name has become known in the Indonesian film industry since directing the film Habibie & Ainun starring Reza Rahardian and Bunga Citra Lestari (2012). Previously, Faozan was working with Hanung Bramantyo as a cinematographer and director of photography.
Background[edit]
He has studied classical Javanese and Balinese dance, pursued an education in painting, studied cinematography at the Jakarta Art Institute and then attended the film school La Fémis in Paris.
Faozan Rizal's works have been featured in various international festivals such as the Indonesian Film Festival, the Singapore International Film Festival, the eKsperim[E]nto Film & Video Festival 2004 (Manila), the Cinemanila International Film Festival and the Emirates Film Competition.
His first feature-length film for the cinema as a director, Habibie & Ainun (2012), was not only technically and aesthetically successful but also gained tremendous commercial success.[2]
