Farhat Abbas Shah (فرحت عباس شاہ, born 15 November 1964, Jhang, Punjab, Pakistan) is a well known Urdu poet, previously a famous Pakistani Ninja expert.[clarification needed] He received his early education from Jhang but ultimately shifted to Lahore. He achieved a Master's degree in Philosophy and Msc in psychology. He has revolutionised Urdu poetry by his classical aptitude towards the Urdu Ghazal. "Udasi" is the main influence on his poetry, but this element of "Udasi" is not pessimistic; it is written in a positive way. He has written many books, more than 68, which has been considered a remarkable contribution towards Urdu literature. Farhat Abbas Shah started his poetry at an early age when he was in school, and eventually obtained the status of a very famous poet. He opposed the conventional attitude of poetry and introduced his new style to Urdu ghazal. He has been criticised by many contemporaries, but he did not give up his struggle and finally got recognised across the globbe. Farhat Abbas Shah is currently working for different TV channels and radio. He is the founder of the FARZ Foundation, which is working for poor people in Pakistan on the basis of microfinance.
Farhat Abbas Shah has been criticised for his poetry by his contemporaries. However, he has also been appreciated as a poet. The "Derd" and "Gudaz" with which his whole poetry is injected captivate the mind of the reader, and are not simply romantic, but present new angles of thinking about modern issues. This happens with Farhat's poetry, and not with contemporaries.[1][2]
