Fermented inverted sugar syrup[edit]
Fermented simple syrup is fermented water with a sweet reserve of refined sugar. It is an alcoholic beverage that also can be used as a sweet ethanol base for drink mixers with little sugar content.
Fermented simple syrup may save bartenders time by substituting vodka combined with refined sugar. Also, fermented sugar water can substitute wine in wine cocktails.
Carbonated water based drinks, such as spritzer, can be served with fermented sugar water instead of wine to keep it sweet but flavor neutral.
Fermented flavoured syrup[edit]
Fermented flavoured syrup examples found in kits:
- Winemaking: Grape syrup, and sugars in wine
- Beer homebrewing: Adjuncts (eg barley malt syrup for barley wine.
Dry extract or syrup is used for fermentation for homemade fermentation.
Fermented syrup is used instead of fermented mashing in American Sorghum whiskeys.
