Figure is a California-based AI Robotics company that specializes in the development of general-purpose humanoids.[1] Founded by Brett Adcock in 2022, the company recently emerged from stealth mode and in May 2023 has closed a Series A funding round, securing $70 million[2] in investment. According to Adcock,[lower-alpha 1] this funding will be utilized to further advance the development of their humanoid model, known as “Figure 01”, enhance their AI data pipeline for autonomous operations, and drive the commercialization of their technology.[3][4][5][6][7][8][9][10][11]

The Series A funding round was led by Parkway Venture Capital, with significant participation from various investors, including Adcock himself,[lower-alpha 2] Aliya Capital, Bold Ventures, Tamarack Global, FJ labs, and Till Reuter, the CEO of KUKA Robotics. These partnerships aim to provide Figure with the necessary resources to expedite the deployment of Figure 01 into real-world applications and facilitate the company's growth.

While the public has yet to witness Figure 01 firsthand, early specifications indicate that this humanoid will stand at a height of 5 feet and 6 inches (approximately 167 cm) and weigh 60 kilograms. Figure 01 boasts a payload capacity of up to 20 kilograms, enabling it to carry significant loads. The primary objective behind Figure's humanoid development is to address labor shortages and support global supply chains by deploying[12] these humanoids in various workforce scenarios.[13][14][15][16][17][18]
