History[edit]
Identiv was founded in 1990 in Munich, Germany as SCM Microsystems GmbH. It received venture capital from Index Ventures[7] and made its initial public offering on the Nasdaq stock market in 1997, then headquartered in California, USA.[8]
In 2009, SCM Microsystems completed a merger with Hirsch Electronics[9] and acquired Bluehill ID. The new combination was renamed to Identiv Group, shortened to Identiv in 2014.[10][2] In 2018, Identiv went on to acquire Thursby Software Systems[11] and 3VR.[12]
In 2024, Identiv's new CEO Kirsten Newquist outlined a renewed focus on its Internet of Things business.[3]
