    Files is a Fluent-designed file manager designed for Windows 11, which has been available for download on Github since 2019.[1]

    Column view[edit]

    One can quickly navigate through the columns to access different levels of the file system.

    View and edit archives[edit]

    One can manage compressed archives, including zip, WinRar, 7zip and more. One can drag and drop it to existing archives and use the "Create Archive" option to create encrypted archives.

    Seamless cloud integration[edit]

    Integration with cloud services like OneDrive, Google Drive, and iCloud lets you manage your documents and photos in the cloud right from the sidebar.

    File preview[edit]

    You can preview documents, photos and more without having to open them. Support for rich previews, syntax highlighting, markdown, and video playback is built in.

    Tags[edit]

    You can mark different files and folders with tags. The tags can be personalized with colors and name. This makes it easier to find files again.

    Git integration (available soon)[edit]

    Files is a file manager for Windows 11 that offers integration with Git. Git is a free file version management software developed by Linus Torvalds. With Files, one can manage Git projects directly in the file manager without leaving it. You can create new branches, switch between them and synchronize your changes.

    Standard file manager[edit]

    Files can be set as the default file manager, which means that this app replaces the actual Windows Explorer. Unexpected problems may occur here, as this function is still in the test phase.
