FlexIt Inc. is an American fitness technology startup that serves users in the United States. The mobile applications allows users to pay by the minute for gym use and conduct virtual personal training sessions. [1][2] It was founded in 2018 by Austin Cohen.
Product Offering[edit]
FlexIt has two products. The first is virtual personal training.[3] Personal trainers join the platform through their fitness facility and work with clients one on one. [4] This service allows users to meet with personal trainers without needing to visit the gym.[5] [6]
The in-gym access lets users visit gyms by scanning a QR code upon entering and exiting the facility. Users are billed by the minute[7] and there are no upfront costs. [8]
History[edit]
Started in 2018 by Austin Cohen, FlexIt officially launched at CES in January 2019. [9] At launch, FlexIt had 300 partner facilities in 7 markets, including Retro Fitness, Youfit Health Clubs, and Charter Fitness. [10] Current gym partners include Blink Fitness, Crunch Fitness, 24 Hour Fitness, New York Sports Club, Chuze Fitness, and Golds Gym.[11]
In 2019, FlexIt announced a partnership with Therabody to create branded Wellness Rooms in WeWork locations across the country. [12] Additional partnerships were launched with AccuWeather, Reservations.com, [13], and Travelzoo. [14] In October of 2020, FlexIt announced partnerships with performance sports apparel brand, 2XU.[15]
In response to the quarantines instituted in the United States due to the Coronavirus crisis, FlexIt introduced virtual personal training in April of 2020. This service allows users to meet with personal trainers online without having to go to a gym.[16]
