Florencio Rojas (born 1984) in Pinamar, Argentina, is tattoo artist based in the Netherlands known for his work in the Japanese style.

Background[edit]

As a young child, Rojas was always interested in drawing. At the age of 14, inspired by the friend of his older brother, Rojas took apart his remote control car and from that created his own tattoo machine.[1]

Career[edit]

Rojas started his tattooing career at the age of 15 with a homemade tattoo machine, and when he was 18, in partnership with his brother he opened a tattoo parlour in his hometown.[2]

Two years later, when a national crisis engulfed Argentina and facing a personal crises at home, Rojas closed his shop and left the country for Europe, heading first for Spain to attend the Ibiza Tattoo Convention, and then to stay on and work there.[1]

Since 2008, he has been based in Eindhoven in the Netherlands, where he heads his own tattoo studio. Rojas has dedicated the is known for his work in the traditional Japanese style.[3] In 2020, he released Japanese Sketches, a book with hundreds of sketches, painting and drawing references for new tattoo work.[4]

Rojas is one of 16 celebrity tattoo artists that contributed to Color Collab, a digital coloring book app that allows the user to collaborate with celebrated tattoo artistes including Chris Nunez, Tim Hendricks, Claudia De Sabe, Matt Beckerich, and others.[5]
