Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park (The FIRM) is a 420-acre rally and road racing training facility in northern Florida, located approximately 20 miles from Gainesville, FL.

History[edit]

European Rally School[edit]

In 1998, English rally driver Ivor Wigham set up the seven-mile European Rally School through the sand, scrub wood and pine forest on the corner of Keystone Heights Airport property[1].

Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park[edit]

In 2012, The Strategic Group of Gainesville purchased the facility from Mr. Wigham and renamed it The Florida International Rally & Motorsport Park, or The FIRM for short.[2] Since the purchase by TSG, the facility has been expanded to over 18 miles of rally stages, off-road trails, and obstacle courses.

Testing and training[edit]

The FIRM is the "Official Test Track" of Grassroots Motorsports Magazine.

Various groups from all branches of the US Military train at The FIRM for tactical performance and high-center-of-gravity driving.

University of Florida's SAE team regularly tests their cars on the 1.6-mile road circuit and the .5-mile kart track.

The facility regularly hosts IndyCar, IMSA, SCCA, NASA, and other race teams as they test and prepare for upcoming races.

Special events[edit]

Nitro Rallycross[edit]

The FIRM hosted the 2021 Championship for the Nitro Rallycross series founded by Travis Pastrana. Special guests included NASCAR Cup Series Champion Chase Elliot, YouTube star Cleetus McFarland and other rally drivers from around the world.[3][4][5]

Krawl'n for the Fallen[edit]

Krawl'n for the Fallen is an Offroad 4x4 Charity event raising money for Families of Fallen Police Officers, as well as other law enforcement agency needs. All proceeds from Krawl'n for the Fallen will be donated to Concerns of Police Survivors (C.O.P.S.) and partner law enforcement charities.[6][7][8]
