Flux Mopeds, doing business as Flux, is a private company headquartered in Madison, Wisconsin. Flux produces small electric vehicles for short distance transportation.

History[edit]

Flux was founded in 2011 with the goal of proving the viability of small electric vehicles in the United States.[1] Flux launched the Flux EM1, which is now in its third-generation revision.[2] During development, Flux’s focus has been on balanced and pragmatic application of technology.

In 2015, Flux Mopeds won recognition for social innovation by Madison Magazine.[3] In 2016, co-founder Matthew Brueggeman, was named Madison Noteworthy Honoree, which recognizes local entrepreneurs and innovators who inspire social innovation.[4]

Flux EM1[edit]

The Flux EM1, tops out at 38mph, reaches up to 50 miles per charge and charges in 3 hours. The Flux EM1 is powered by a 60V 26A removable Lithium Ion Battery and a 1492W Direct Current Brushless Motor.[2] The Flux EM1 motor’s maximum noise level is 30 decibels.[5] The Flux EM1 is legal to ride on roads and in most states can be ridden with a standard driver’s license.[6] Flux rider feedback indicates people use the EM1 for either short-distance work commutes or short-distance local transportation.[2]
