On the morning of February 11, 2021, at 6:15 a.m. local time Fort Worth, Texas, and after an episode of freezing rain that had occurred the night before and into the morning had produced icy and unsafe conditions on Interstate 35W (I-35W), up to 135 vehicles crashed in an unprecedented pileup, including more than four 18 wheelers, resulting in six deaths, and more than 60 people hospitalized, including four police officers.
