Foundation for a Human Internet (FHI) is a nonprofit organization headquartered in New York, registered as a charitable foundation under US law. It was established in 2022[1] to manage the human-ID Single Sign-On Social Login. The human-ID[2] is a tool which allows anonymous login, while aiming to limit each user to one account only. According to the Foundation, this aims to prevent bot networks and coordinated inauthentic behavior on platforms.
Work on humanID began in 2019 at Harvard Business School by founders Sidiq Permana, Shuyao Kong, Namik Muduroglu and Bastian Purrer, and received support from the Mozilla Foundation,[3] the Harvard Social Impact Fund Foundation,[4] and temporary fiscal sponsorship by the 501(c)(3) Bluenumber Foundation.
