Francis Eduardo Jacinto Calderón
Francis Eduardo Jacinto Calderón (born May 8, 1996) is a Peruvian musician.[1]. He is currently working on attaining a bachelor's degree in Music at the Pontificia Universidad Católica del Perú (PUCP)[2]
Francis was born in Talara, Piura and raised in Chiclayo, Lambayeque. His passion for music was obvious since an early age. At the age of 14, he got his first guitar and thanks to his dedication and commitment, he was able to form his first band with a group of friends that same year. He taught himself through videos online and also took some lessons. This was his moment when he started growing as a musician and what later in life led him to enroll in undergraduate classes to further expand his knowledge at PUCP. He has also previously studied at the Universidad Nacional Pedro Ruíz Gallo (2014-2018). To study at the PUCP, one of the best universities in Peru, he had to take the life-changing to move to a different part of the country, the capital, Lima, Peru.
Joys of Life[edit]
Life has its ups and downs and one has to learn to make the best of it. One has to learn to enjoy the small things as much as enjoying the big things. Francis loves food. He likes mostly anything but also dislikes certain things such as beef tripe and mushrooms. He takes joy at learning and challenging himself to play themes that are complicated. Sometimes, he will randomly take his guitar and start playing. He knows how to play the guitar, the piano, the violin, among other instruments. Another thing he enjoys doing in his free time is playing online games. You can easily find him listening to educational videos while playing games; it's not unusual for him.
Food[edit]
One of the things that most people enjoy is food and Francis is no exception to this. His favorite food is 'Arroz a la Cubana' at the most basic Peruvian style, which is simply served with white rice, fried plantains (platanitos fritos) and fried eggs. But, of course, he enjoys to eat many other things. You could easily find him eating at a 'carretilla' eating as many as 6 sandwiches with a variety of fillings, including queso fresco, avocado, chicken patty, steak, omelette, etc., for dinner. Francis enjoys the food his lovely mother makes him every time he goes back to Chiclayo to visit his family and the smoothies and oat milk his father makes every now and then - has even described them as the best he has ever had in his life. One particular thing about his passion of food is not only that he loves it but also that he can eat excessive amounts of food at once and still enjoy it; but one thing for sure, he will eat no more once he gets up from the table. From time to time, he will feel guilty about how much he eats.
Side note: he won't eat anything unless he has something to drink, preferably his "chelita," by which he refers to Inca Kola.
Passion for Learning[edit]
A wise man with an incessant addiction for knowledge is a vague way to describe him. His knowledge ranges from art to science to history; you name it! He'll know it. Choose a random topic and he will be able to talk about it and discuss the topic. His forte, though, is history. He gets his knowledge from school, classes, as well as videos and readings that can be easily found online with the current technology and easy access to the internet. He also speaks fluent English which he learnt at the Instituto Cultural Peruano Norteamericano (ICPNA)[3] and intermediate level French which he learnt at Alianza Francesa de Chiclayo.
Mauricio[edit]
Francis has a weakness, though. That is Mauricio, his Felis silvestris catus. He loves Mauricio and loves sleeping with him and giving him lots of unconditional love even though he's allergic to him. Mauricio is a cute rescue cat, his fur is of an opaque, apricot color. He has green eyes, a pink nose and pointy ears. One thing in common that he has with Francis is that they both love to eat and that's why he's so fluffy (i.e. fat).
