Franck van der Heijden (born 27 September 1967) is a Dutch composer, arranger, and conductor. He is best known for his collaborations with musicians such as David Garrett and David Guetta.

Early life and education

Van der Heijden was born in Geldrop to a creative family. His father was a music teacher and his mother was an artist. His musical career began at the age of 14. Prior to that, he aspired to attend film academy, but after taking up the guitar, the decision to attend conservatory was quickly made. Most of his skills were self-taught, with some guidance from his father. From 1984 to 1990, he studied at the Conservatory in Hilversum.

Career

In 1990, he graduated from the conservatory in Hilversum, majoring in arranging and composition. Besides playing in various bands as a guitarist, he worked in studios as a producer and arranger. From 1995 onwards, his focus shifted to arranging and orchestrating for large orchestras. He composed and arranged for numerous internationally renowned artists, radio, and television. He worked for more than 17 years with the Metropole orchestra and the Night of the Proms, where he met Garrett in 2002. From that point, David and Franck began collaborating on crossover material. For all tours with Garrett and his orchestra, he served as music director, conductor, and guitarist. Besides projects and live concerts with David, he continued writing orchestral arrangements for other artists, including Within Temptation, David Guetta, Michael Jackson, and Celine Dion.
