Friday Night Kiss

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Friday Night Kiss (FNK) is an in-the-mix dance music programme on the UK's Kiss Network (Kiss 100, Kiss 101 & Kiss 105-108). It is the lead programme of the "KISS Weekend" block, and the leading programme of its kind in Europe for the duration. The programme is presented by Richard Cutmore (mixing) and Alex Mansuroglu and Andrea Zara (voicing) from 5pm to 7pm, Billy Da Kid from 7pm to 10pm, then Steve Smart from 10pm to 1am, followed by Justin Wilkes from 1am to 3am, and finally DJ Jason P until 6am.

From 2008 to 2011, the show only ran 7pm to 10pm with DJ Steve Smart. The following show is not part of Friday Night Kiss, but it's called 'Destination Weekend' and mixed by DJ EZ from 10 till midnight.

From 2011 to 2015, the lineup for FNK was: Steve Smart from 7pm to 10pm, then DJ EZ from 10pm to midnight, followed by Danny Lee from midnight to 2am, and finally DJ Jason P until 4am.

It runs commercials about 12 minutes (3 times) per hour from 5pm to midnight, then 5 minutes (once) per hour till 4am. The format is also slightly different: while the 5pm-midnight slot focuses on songs, the midnight-4am slot moves toward to electronic and alternative dance, with minor talking throughout the hour. Jason P's show is voice-tracked, and Andrew Wilson's show is voiced by KissFresh's weekend breakfast presenter Charlie Powell.

Another mainstream house music programme on KISS is Saturday Night Kiss (SNK), launched in 2014, which runs Saturdays in three slots: 6-8pm with Billy Da Kid; 8pm-midnight with Steve Smart and midnight-5am with Andrew Wilson.[1] Charlie Hedges, who originally hosted the 2am hour here, moved to the Saturday Night KissFresh show. Unlike FNK, SNK is more known as an outdoor event, as it could be seen in summer 2017 in nightclub Marbella, and April and October 2017 in The Forum, Hertfordshire.

SNK's former line-up was: 6-8pm with Majestic, 8-11pm with Steve Smart, 11pm-midnight with the Dixon Brothers, midnight-4am with Danny Lee and 2-3am with Charlie Hedges.

In 2018, as part of new schedule, Kiss launched a new show as an extension of the weekend schedule, titled Thursday Night Kiss. The show's lineup is: Majestic from 10pm to midnight, James Hype from midnight to 1am, and finally Joel Curry till 2am.

A notable fact is that the shows that air right before TNK, FNK and SNK are also in the mix as well. They are Tyler 7-10pm, Live@Kiss 3-5pm and AJ 3-6pm respectively.

Those programs can be listened again in full length for free via online website or the KissKube app within seven days of initial broadcast.

In January 2010, Duncan Wallace joined Kiss from Galaxy FM to produce Friday and Saturday Night Kiss. He left this role in November 2012 to join Global Radio, producing Capital FM's Friday Night Capital with Marvin Humes and Capital XTRA's Clubbers Guide with Ministry of Sound. He left in June 2015 to become Apple's Beats 1 producer.

From July 2015 to March 2016, Mikey Watson joined Kiss from Australia's NOVA to produce Friday Night Kiss (as well as Live@KISS). He currently produces KISS Breakfast after this, replace Adam K, who was the show's producer from May 2007.
