From This Fire is an American rock band from Tampa, Florida, United States, formed in 2007. The band consists of lead vocalist and guitarist Drew Bell, lead guitarist Ben Bowman, bassist Drew MacArthur and drummer Gabe Higgins. The band's musical style has been described as a Hard Rock core of chunky riffs and open melodic choruses with a Metal side of guitar harmonies and guitar solos. Their style has been called a mix of Metallica, Breaking Benjamin, Sevendust, and Godsmack.[1][2]

History and formation

The band originally started in 2007 with brothers Drew and Brian Bell and a three-song demo. In 2008, Gabe Higgins joined as drummer/background vocalist. Derek Fair joined in 2009 on guitar, although his primary instrument was bass guitar. Shortly before the release of their self-titled debut album, Brian Bell left the band, citing personal reasons. Derek was able to move to bass guitar, and later in 2009, Ben Bowman joined on lead guitar, completing the foursome.[3]

From This Fire has played many venues in the central Florida area, including the historic State Theatre, in St. Petersburg, Florida. At State Theatre the band has shared the stage with national acts such as Sick Puppies, Hurt and Adelitas Way.[4] The band has also played Hard Rock Live at Universal CityWalk in Orlando.[5] They were the headlining group to play the "Rock Solid Pressure Industry Showcase," also held at State Theatre, and released a three-song EP named "The Serenade" produced solely for their performance there.

Since the early September release of "The Serenade," it has received many positive reviews, most notably from Alternative Revolt Magazine, and Fuel Radio.[6][2] And even though their self-titled debut came out in January 2010, From This Fire enjoyed a favorable album review in early 2011 by Alternative Revolt Magazine, making a "solid B."[7]

In May 2011, From This Fire opened for Candlebox at Jannus Live in St. Petersburg, Florida.[8]

At the tail-end of 2012, Derek Fair left the band, citing the need to spend more time with his family. From This Fire recruited bassist Drew MacArthur and took a brief hiatus to bring him up to speed.

Achievements

In 2010, From This Fire's self-titled debut release was named album of the year by the radio program "Rock Solid Pressure".[9]
