Full expression interactive movie

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Full expression interactive movie - (template name) is a subgenre of adventure game focused on expression of character, played by real actors where movement is captured with motion capture and facial expression captured with facial capture techniques. The game usually has a linear story-line.

Definition

Main characters are played by real actors. Their movements are mostly rendered in real-time on a set and converted to computer graphics. One of the main techniques used in production is a facial scan to show the emotions of the character, such as fear, joy, concern, surprise, hatred, etc. The entire face is rendered, including eye and eyelid movements. A character played this way shows a lot of emotions, unlike other games in which face expressions are not changed, and is not important. Choosing the right actors is very important for the characters played. By techniques used, the game becomes similar to a linear movie with full expression of characters.

One of the most known productions of such a subgenre of Action-Adventure game is Hellblade: Senua's Sacrifice, where actress Melina Juergens was awarded by British Academy Games Awards for Performer as Senua.[1]

Another example is God of War and performance of Kratos by Christopher Judge.[2]
