G. A. Rama Raju

Gottumukkala Achyuta Rama Raju (b. December 25 1961),[citation needed] better known as G. A. Rama Raju, is an Indian-born healthcare physician, and consultant in obstetrics, gynecology and infertility management[1] in Visakhapatnam, Andhra Pradesh, India.

Background[edit]

Raju was born in Guntur, Andhra Pradesh, India. His father G. Ramakrishnam Raju, was also a doctor, and his mother Venkatanarasamma a housewife. His father worked as Professor of obstetrics and gynecology for 40 years in Kakinada, Guntur and Visakhapatnam.[citation needed] He is an author of textbook Obstetrics and fetal medicine and post-retirement started Krishna Hospital.[citation needed]

Raju married in 1986 with Annapurna and had a boy, named Akhil. He is now pursuing his MBBS degree.[citation needed]

Raju did his schooling at Gandhi Centenary School, Kakinada in 1975 and completed his Pre-university study at DNR College, Bhimavaram in 1977. Later he was enrolled at Andhra Medical College for MBBS.[citation needed] He has a passion to know the technology and remedies for guiding the best alternatives of human anatomy. He had an admission for DNB gynecology at National Board of Examination, New Delhi.[citation needed] He felt that the Ultra Sound system will be an asset to his profession and he took a decision to pursue Ultra Sound at Nowrosjee Wadia Maternity Hospital, Bombay.[citation needed] He was attracted to the newly introduced course, he moved to Germany for internship in Endoscopy in University of Kiel, Kiel Germany. He had an opportunity to learn more courses, while he was in Germany, like, Certificate Course in ART in University of Kiel, Kiel Germany, Bachelors in TESA, TESE in Bielefeld University, Germany, Certificate Course in ICIS in Bielefeld University, Germany and Certificate Course in Assisted Hatching in Bielefeld University, Germany. Raju had started in his profession and instituted the Krishna IVF Clinic, Visakhapatnam in 1995 with an aim to console the patients, who are affected by Fertility. This was the first IVF hospital in Andhra Pradesh state, and he successfully reached the public by providing the timely service. To update the recent development in the area of assisted reproduction, he introduced the Training Centre in his Hospital for young Doctors, where the courses like Preceptorship, Observership, Endoscopy, ultrasound, basic infertility, etc. are being offered. This was the first Institute in Andhra Pradesh to produce the technicians and these were recognized by FOGSI [4], India, and Merck, Singapore. The students trained from this institute are occupied a number of positions in various places.

Apart from his profession, he actively involved in the social activities. Firstly, he is providing the financial assistance of Rs.2.00 lakhs per year to GVMC-Vidya Sri Scheme[5], to meet the expenses of poor tribal students. He is organizing the Plantation programme in 28th Ward, Visakhapatnam, where his team was planted about 600 saplings in this programme.
