GFL 2 was a planned mixed martial arts event produced by the Global Fight League was originally scheduled to take place on May 25, 2025, at the Shrine Auditorium and Expo Hall in Los Angeles, California, United States.[1][2][3][4] On April 9, 2025, California State Athletic Commission executive director Andy Foster confirmed that promotion has formally canceled its debut slate of events.[5]
Background
The second event of Global Fight League, a lightweight bout between former interim UFC Lightweight Champion (also The Ultimate Fighter: Team Lesnar vs. Team dos Santos welterweight winner) Tony Ferguson and Dillon Danis was scheduled to headline the event.[6][7]
A heavyweight bout between former UFC Heavyweight Champions Fabrício Werdum and Frank Mir was announced at a TBA date and location by the promotion.[8] However in March 2025, the bout was cancelled due to Mir's having to undergo an emergency surgery.[9] Werdum was complete at this event against opponent to be announced.[10] Subsequently, Werdum revealed at the Mundo da Luta podcast that he will no longer be fighting for the organization.[11]
