Gabe Furtado is a pop singer and songwriter from Los Angeles, California.
Born in January 7, 1997 in Campinas, Brazil, Gabe is the youngest sibling with two older brothers. His parents have always done their best to raise their children with a good education and morals, and both of them have been the number one fans of their kids since day one, which was a great incentive for Gabe to really follow his dreams throughout his life. Growing up, baby Gabe had to deal with a lot of conflicts coming from the environment around him, which made him deal with depression and anxiety, to say the least. All of that he was able to summarize on his debut album 'Life' - how he dealt with his own journey on Earth up until his early twenties and how he still deals with it. From his joy of living every unique day with 'Living Again' and being free to fly high being himself with 'Free Bird' to the grief (caused by his dad's passing) with 'Last Goodbye' and the dark places he went (mentally) with 'Unicorns'. Gabe has written every song he releases by himself, making it his own diary. Before his career starts in 2017 with his debut EP 'Just Feelings', Gabe had explored all kinds of arts while growing up: he took painting lessons, dance classes, acting lessons, photography lessons, he did some modeling, but when he started his singing lessons and performed on a stage singing for the first time he knew he was a singer. The first song he ever sang on a stage was 'We Will Rock You' by Queen. His songwriting journey started when he was a little kid, he would write songs for fun and sing them with his friends, he even wrote a little musical with his cousin at one time. But it was in 2014 when he had his heartbroken that he started writing songs he would really want to produce and release, the song 'Shine Bright' from his album 'Life' was written, according to Gabe, in 2015, which makes five years between the process of writing and releasing it and it also makes 'Shine Bright' the oldest song he wrote that he released so far.
Fun facts about 'Life':
- Even though Gabe sings the word "life" in the chorus of his debut single 'Last Goodbye', he had no idea he would end up creating the album and titling it 'Life' - it was all a coincidence, or as he said "meant to be".
- The music video for 'Free Bird' was always on Gabe's mind, ever since he heard the song produced for the first time. It only took him, his iPhone, his friend Sabrina and two days to shoot the entire thing!
- Gabe released the sensual first music video for 'Together' to announce the album but had it taken down because he felt very attacked in both positive and negative ways.
- Throughout the entire process of creating the album with Sandra and Erich, Gabe had moments when he didn't think he would get the chance to release it. He almost gave up on it and on being a singer, but Sandra didn't let him.
- Gabe did the artwork for 'Unicorns (Remix)', 'Not a Player (Radio Edit)' and 'Free Bird (Radio Edit)' by himself.
- The song 'Unicorns' was always meant to be a ballad with only Sandra playing the piano and his voice, that's how he used to sing in the past. The gesture was an ode to how he started.
- Gabe writes and produces all his music videos and directs most of them.
