Gabriele Orsini del Balzo was an Italian noble and military leader who served as the Duke of Venosa and Count of Ugento. He was born in 1404 and died in 1453 during the Fall of Constantinople. Gabriele was the son of Raimondo Orsini del Balzo, Prince of Taranto, and Maria d’Enghien, Countess of Lecce. He was a general in the Neapolitan army and fought in several battles, including the Byzantine-Ottoman Wars. Gabriele is known for his role in the defense of Constantinople against the Ottoman Empire in 1453. He led a group of 200 Neapolitan archers and fought alongside Byzantine forces to defend the city. Gabriele died during the battle.
