The Geneva College of Longevity Science (GCLS) is a higher-education institution based in Geneva, Switzerland, focused on postgraduate education, professional training and academic work in longevity science and longevity medicine.[1] Established in 2024, the institution provides programmes concerning ageing biology, preventive medicine, healthy ageing and the translation of geroscience into clinical and professional practice.[2]

GCLS offers postgraduate and continuing-education programmes in longevity science and related fields.[2] Its activities also include research and framework development concerning physician education and clinical standards in longevity medicine, as well as academic partnerships and scientific meetings.[3]

History

GCLS was established in Geneva in 2024 with a focus on formal education in longevity science, an interdisciplinary field drawing on ageing biology, preventive medicine, public health and related disciplines.[4] Dominik Thor has served as president of the institution. Luiza Spiru, a physician and professor whose work includes gerontology, geriatrics and longevity medicine, has been involved in its academic programmes.[2] The institution subsequently expanded its postgraduate and professional education and developed international scientific activities.[1] In February 2025, GCLS partnered with Dubai Science Park to hold a Longevity Science Semester Symposium in Dubai. Dubai Science Park reported that the two-day meeting brought together participants from healthcare, life sciences, academic and public-sector organizations.[5]

In 2026, GCLS announced an academic partnership with Ovidius University of Constanța for a research doctorate in medicine with a specialization in longevity sciences. Ovidius University is identified as the degree-awarding institution, while GCLS serves as the international academic partner.[6]

GCLS provides postgraduate and professional education in longevity science and longevity medicine. Its portfolio includes a master's-level programme in longevity science, continuing medical education and professional training for physicians, and postgraduate study in peptide therapeutics.[7] The curricula address subjects such as the biology of ageing, biomarkers, preventive medicine, healthspan, clinical assessment and the translation of ageing research into healthcare.[8]

The doctoral partnership with Ovidius University of Constanța began with a 2026 intake. The programme is described as a research doctorate in medicine with a specialization in longevity sciences and is not a physician qualification. Ovidius University is the degree-awarding institution.[9] Dominik Thor serves as president of GCLS and professor of pharmacy. Luiza Spiru has held academic responsibilities within the institution,[10] including involvement in longevity-medicine education and the Ovidius University doctoral collaboration.[2]

Research and Clinical Frameworks

GCLS faculty and researchers have contributed to publications addressing the development of longevity medicine as a structured field of clinical practice and medical education.[2] A 2025 Biogerontology perspective, authored by Dominik Thor, David Barzilai, Yu-Xuan Lyu and Luiza Spiru, proposed a framework for incorporating longevity-related competencies into continuing medical education and medical curricula. The authors listed GCLS affiliations.[2]

Researchers affiliated with GCLS also contributed to the peer-reviewed review article "Toward responsible longevity medicine: Swiss framework for healthy longevity medicine clinics."[3] Published in Longevity, the paper proposed a voluntary framework addressing clinical governance, evidence appraisal, patient safety, data governance and the responsible translation of longevity interventions into clinical practice.[3]
