Gergeranian Pear

Pyrus Gergerana is a species of tree in the family Rosaceae. It is a wild pear endemic to Armenia, only found near Ger Ger Village in the southeastern part of the country. Believed to be the ancestor of the commercial modern pear. Estimated to be only 50 trees left in the wild, there are currently no efforts in conservation at this time. [1]

Pyrus gergerana differs from other species by form and shape of leaves and fruits. Blooms from April to June, and fruit ripens in September. Fruits are large (3-3.5 cm in diameter) [2]
