}} Qasem Taghizadeh Khamsi (born 1334) is the former mayor of Mashhad. He was elected as the mayor on 24 August 1396 by the Islamic Council of Mashhad City and his decree as the mayor of Mashhad was issued by the Ministry of Interior on 25 September 1396.[1] But on 26 November 1397, according to the law prohibiting the employment of retirees, he was removed from Mashhad municipality.[2] Taghizadeh has 25 years of experience in urban development. He was the municipal deputy of Gholamohsin Karbaschi for 6 years during his tenure in Tehran Municipality.
According to the decree of Reza Ardakanian, the Minister of Energy at the time, on 13 Bahman 2017, despite his retirement and despite the law prohibiting the employment of retirees, Taghizadeh was appointed as the Deputy Director of Water Affairs and Water Resources of the Ministry of Energy and Chairman of the Board of Directors and Managing Director of Iran Water Resources Management Company[3]
