Ghost Drops is a Canadian lifestyle brand that focuses on the legal recreational and medicinal cannabis industries. The company was co-founded by Travis Fleetwood, John Dean Durante & a Private 3rd Party in a warehouse in 2017 and operated in Canada’s legacy market until 2021 when they announced their plans to enter the legal market.[1]

History[edit]

Ghost Drops was co-founded by Travis Fleetwood, John Dean Durante & a private 3rd party in 2017. Travis Fleetwood had also founded one of the world’s top battle rap leagues, King Of The Dot in 2008 and used his social presence to help build the Ghost Drops following. [2] Ghost Drops quickly built their consumer base to 80,000 (about the seating capacity of the Los Angeles Memorial Coliseum) in Canada’s legacy market over 4 years. Ghost Drops was one of the first companies in the legacy market to give credit to the cultivators and introduced unique stylized strain stickers that are now the legacy market standard.

In June, 2021, the company announced that it would be entering the Canadian legal cannabis market and hired Gene Bernaudo (former President of Ignite Cannabis) as their CEO and acting COO.[3]

On July 7th, 2021, Ghost Drops announced a partnership with Mother Labs to be the primary licensed nursery to develop its exclusive genetics and scale them to a retail size. The first release with Mother Labs is First Class Funk, an award-winning strain, from legacy breeder Cultivating Happiness.[4] Also in July, the company entered the cryptocurrency world with the launch of Crypto Drops, a NFT marketplace. [5]

In September 2021, Ghost Drops announced a licensing partnership with Atlas Growers, that enabled the Ghost Drops brand to enter the legal cannabis market worldwide. This deal also allowed the company to enter the medicinal cannabis market through Atlas’s already established presence.

October 5th, 2021, it was released that Ghost Drops had secured deals with 4 of Canada’s most popular legacy market brands to help bring them to the legal market. Unlicensed Producer, 6ixotics, Headwaters Cannabis and Slurmmm Melts will be commercialized in collaboration with the Ghost Drops brand. Ghost Drops also committed to helping UP and Headwaters establish their own brands within the legal Canadian cannabis market.

In early January 2022, Ghost Drops had it's initial release in Ontario for recreational cannabis[6] and has been the most searched brand on the OCS, since their initial drop. [7] [8] [9] [10]. Their offering of First Class Funk was also named one of the best weed strains in Canada by Complex Magazine.[11]

In April 2022, Ghost Drops announced the addition of “Campaign” Colin Bambury to the team. Colin is the founder and editor of the leading source for cannabis marketing, ADCANN. In addition, he’s also a board member of the Association of Canadian Cannabis Retailers (ACRES).[12]

Also in April 2022, just in time for "4/20", Ghost Drops launched it's flagship dispensary at 1184 on Toronto's historic Queen St West. In addition to the carefully curated selection of cannabis, it's the only place you can purchase the very limited-edition Ghost Drops merchandise.[13]
