Gianfranco Fantuzzi (born 6 November 1959) is an Italian engineer and former manager of the Scuderia Toro Rosso Formula 1 team.

Career[edit]

Fantuzzi raced in karting in his youth, but stopped driving when it turned out that he was too slow. Fantuzzi has always preferred what goes on behind the scenes of racing rather than the racing itself. At 16, he joined Scuderia Ferrari in Formula 1 as a mechanic, worked there for 22 years, most of which time he was a research and racing team engineer. At that time, he also stopped working to move to the United States and participate in the IMSA program. In 1998–2001 he worked as a race engineer at Minardi. He moved to Toyota where he worked as a logistics manager. In 2006 he started working as the general director of Scuderia Toro Rosso, in 2009 he was promoted to the position of team manager.[1]
