Gigi D'Amico

From EverybodyWiki Bios & Wiki

Italian/Spanish polyhedric creative mind, music producer and fashion shoe designer, born in Catania, Sicily. He started his music career working with various local radio stations, to move on to clubs (Genesi Portorosa-Me)[1] where he could practice as innovative DJ. He progressed into the technical aspect, and he founded the 'Magna Studio Sound', an important rehearsal studio in Catania, where David Grabs prepared a performance for a show held at the Istituto d'Arte in Catania.

In 1995 he began a sound engineer course at Centro Professione Musica (CPM), while working as a sound engineer touring Sicily in support of several international artists, including Tom Harrell, Tonino Horta, Rickie Lee Jones, Gloria Gaynor, Temptation, Blonde Redhead, Warmers, and Uzeda. Throughout the years he has also written and performed music with local bands ( Beatle Juice, Somersault).

In 2003 Gigi D'Amico moved to London. He completed a BA (Hons) at the University of Westminster in 2007 specialising in Commercial Music, whilst setting up his own record label DRKL rec. which will release the forthcoming tracks on "The future Sound of Sicily", a production made with the jaw harp, an old musical instrument traditionally used in folkloric Sicilian music. The jaw harp or marranzano here is used as a sort of pure analog synth emulation, which explain the name "The Future Sound of Sicily". During 2007, he has been also working for Dented Records [2] (Foreign Beggars). Gigi is also producing music for media and short movies.

In 2010 Gigi moved to Barcelona developing with local artist various music projects, at the same time started its own shoes brand called OG shoes [3] made in his hometown Catania, handmade fashionable shoes.

Today the shoes are taking his own name as brand.
